Fun for the whole family at the 2017 Spinifex Spree!

Published on Thursday, 13 July 2017 at 12:00:00 AM

The Town of Port Hedland will host its annual Spinifex Spree Carnival on Friday 28 July and Saturday 29 July at the Port Hedland Turf Club.

A performance by indie rock band The VANNS, Old Macdonald’s Travelling Farm, rides, roving performers, market stalls, and a spectacular fireworks display are some of the exciting things on offer at this year’s event.

Town of Port Hedland’s Mayor Camilo Blanco is encouraging the whole community to attend one of the largest social and community events on the Town’s calendar.

“The Spinifex Spree is a regional ‘royal-show’ experience and includes all the entertainment options patrons look forward to in a carnival”, said Mayor Blanco.

“It is a great day out for the family with lots of kids programs planned across the two days. Families can enjoy a huge variety of amusement rides, games, and main stage entertainment”.

The VANNS will take to the stage on Saturday night at 6.45pm, and a variety of roving performers will be featured over the two days. Community members will also have the opportunity to visit over 80 market stalls, ranging from food and beverage vans to locally made craft and jewellery stalls.

The event will close on Saturday evening with patrons being greeted to a spectacular display of fireworks.

"Pet owners are also reminded to take extra precaution on Saturday evening with fireworks scheduled for 8 pm and to be aware that loud bangs, shouts and flashing lights can be terrifying for our beloved pets," said Mayor Blanco.

Spinifex Spree runs from 5 pm – 9 pm on Friday 28 July and 11 am – 9 pm on Saturday 29 July 2017.

Spinifex Spree is proudly supported by the Town of Port Hedland, Lotteries West, Pilbara Ports Authority and Horizon Power.
