Community Champions Grant

Community Champions funding supports individuals and teams who are excelling in their chosen field. This grant will support those to further develop their skills or support those representing the Town of Port Hedland Local Government area at a regional, national, or international competition, event or conference.

Applicants must be selected by a recognised body and provide a letter of support outlining their selection or nomination.  Individual or Group ambassadors should be able to demonstrate their requirement to represent Hedland in their chosen area of interest (i.e Sports, Arts, Culture, Community, Training)

Eligibility

  • The individual/team must reside in the Town of Port Hedland Local Government area.
  • The individual/team has not received a Community Champions Grant in the current financial year (exceptions apply).
  • The applicant is an individual or team who is representing the Town of Port Hedland Local Government area at a regional, national or international competition, event or conference.
  • Individuals or teams must be selected by a recognised State, or national body and provide a letter of selection for verification.
  • In exceptional circumstances a letter of support from a Club President may be considered where no recognised governing body (State or national) exists.
  • If the applicant is under 18 years of age, a parent/guardian is required to complete the application.

Funding Rounds 

Open all year round (or until the annual funding allocation is exhausted).

Value of Grant

  • Applicants travelling within the Pilbara region: Individual $500 | Group $2,000
  • Applicants traveling within Western Australia: Individual $1,000 | Group $5,000
  • Applicants travelling outside of the Western Australia border or outside of Australian borders: Individual $2,000 | Group $5,000

If successful, you will be asked to provide evidence of the use and expenditure of the approved grant through an audit process plus agree to promoting the Town of Port Hedland and its  Grants Program as part of your acceptance of funds.

What can be funded

Flights, accommodation, and fees to allow applicants to attend a competition, event or conference.

What can't be funded

  • Retrospective costs / activities that have already commenced prior to the grant application submission
  • Participation in commercial based activities
  • Participation in school events
