Environmental Health

The Town of Port Hedland’s Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) perform a diverse range of functions to maintain and protect public health and wellbeing from environmental hazards. Delegated as authorised officers, EHOs conduct regular compliance inspections, respond to public concerns and provide technical advice that relate to a range of disciplines, including the following:

  • Aquatic facilities
  • Caravan parks and camping grounds
  • Food safety and hygiene
  • Hairdresser and barber establishments
  • Hazardous waste management
  • Infectious disease investigation
  • Nuisance management (i.e. noise, dust, odour)
  • On-site sewage and wastewater management
  • Public accommodation
  • Public buildings
  • Skin penetration and beauty establishments
  • Vector control/ mosquito management
