KidSport

Eligible Funding

On 1 January 2018, the total funding available per KidSport child in a calendar year will decrease to $150.

There is no change to who is eligible for KidSport. All Western Australian children aged 5 to 18 with a valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card are eligible for KidSport.

Changes to Club Eligibility

Key changes to club eligibility criteria will be introduced in 2018. These include:

  • Clubs will have to meet the definition of sport as their primary activity.
  • Clubs must have an ABN.
  • Clubs must be either incorporated or a business affiliated with their State Sporting Association.
  • Clubs must charge a membership fee for a minimum 8 weeks of sport activity.

The KidSport team have started communications directly with clubs regarding these changes.

We are asking all clubs to update their details and if they no longer meet the criteria the KidSport team will be in contact with them.  It is encouraged that clubs use a generic club email address, not a personal email address.

All currently approved clubs will have until 1 July 2018 to meet the eligibility criteria.

Introduction of a 90-day Voucher Expiry Period

  • From the 1 January 2018, all approved vouchers will have a 90-day expiry period.
  • The 90-day expiry period starts from date of approval, not the date of application.
  • Expired vouchers can be reapplied for by the applicant (if in the appropriate calendar year).

Tips to help during registration season

Winter sport registrations are going to creep up on us before we know it.

To help assist during this busy period the KidSport team have reviewed the ‘How to’ guides to help local governments, clubs and applicants use the online system.

These guides provide a simple step-by-step process for working in the KidSport system.
