Funding & Donations

Council adopted a revised Funding & Donations Policy at the Ordinary Council Meeting on 22 June 2016.

The objective of the revised policy is to 'ensure Council allocates financial support to the community in the most effective manner. This allows Council to be transparent about the types and levels of funding provided to the community'.

Applications must demonstrate how their project positively contributes towards the local community or encourages the development of local talent.

The Town of Port Hedland encourages all community groups and associations, including cultural and sporting groups, as well as individuals to apply for support through the Funding & Donations process.

The Funding & Donations Policy consists of the following categories:

Community Partnership Grant

The Town provides Community Partnership Grants to a maximum of $15,000 annually for a period of up to 3 years. The support provided can be comprised of cash funding, in-kind support or waiver of fees.

Funding is designed to increase community access to essential events, programs and services and applications must align with the Strategic Community Plan 2014 - 2024.

Application rounds

Applications for Community Partnership Grants commencing in 2017/18 will be advertised later in the year.

Applications for Community Partnership Grants will be considered by Council as a part of the annual budget process.

Community Support Grant

The Town provides Community Support Grants to a maximum of $3,000 support per financial year. The support provided can be comprised of cash funding, in-kind support or waiver of fees.

Funding is designed to support community projects, programs or events.

Funding applications are now accepted all year round. Apply here.

Applications are assessed by the Chief Executive Officer with the endorsement of the Mayor.

Equipment Purchase Grant

The Town provides Equipment Purchase Grants to a maximum of $500 cash per financial year.

Funding is to be used for the purchase of equipment, uniforms etc and applicants are required to demonstrate the benefit of the equipment to the wider community.

Applications are assessed by the Chief Executive Officer with the endorsement of the Mayor.

Youth Donation

The Town provides Individual Youth Donations to a maximum of $500 cash per financial year and Group Youth Donations to a maximum of $2000 cash per financial year for more than 3 participants attending the same event.

Funding can be used for travel or program attendance fees associated with participation in State, National or International representation in sport, arts, music or cultural programs.
