Ranger Services Introduction

Introduction

Council employs six full time staff in this section: Three Trainee Rangers, a Senior Ranger an Administration Officer and the Coordinator of Ranger Services.

Rangers are responsible for the compliance and enforcement of State Government Acts, Regulations and Local Laws adopted by the Town of Port Hedland.

Rangers spend most of their time patrolling the Town and dealing with stray and wandering dogs, parking issues, dumped litter,reserves and foreshore patrols, abandoned vehicles and shopping trolleys,off road vehicles, illegal camping issues and dealing with illegal burning off within the district.

Additional duties include the monitoring of off road vehicles in conjunction with the Police; monitoring reserves and foreshores and conducting various community education programs.

Rangers work closely with the local Police while being involved in the "Eyes On The Street Program" and reports any supicious activity. Rangers also liaise with support agencys in relation to various community projects.

Additionally the Ranger Services Team runs an active Adopt-A-Dog Program throughout  the year and an annual  Microchipping and Dog Registration Day held in the first weekend in November of each year.  

The Ranger Services Office and the Dog Pound facility are located in the Works Depot in Cajarina Street Wedgefield.
