Marquee Park Splash and Play – corner Cottier Drive and Kennedy Street, South Hedland

Marquee Splash and Play Park is an innovative and unique family water park catering to both young and old. Marquee Splash and Play Park is the first water park in Port Hedland and the largest in the North West. The park is free to enter and has a number of picnic and BBQ areas available for hire by the community for birthday parties and other family functions. Hiring a designated area at Marquee Park will include the use of signage to notify other users of the park that the relevant area has been reserved for your function.

Cemetery Beach Park – Sutherland Street foreshore, Port Hedland

Cemetery Beach Park, named so as it is located opposite the historical Old Port Hedland Cemetery, is an idyllic park facing the Port Hedland foreshore. The family park was expanded in 2012 to include more grassed areas, seating and public. Cemetery Beach Park is a popular park with residents and visitors, with accessible playground equipment, boardwalk and binoculars so you can view passing ships and turtles and a link to Turtle Interpretive Loop. The park also has interactive public artwork designed by local art group the Spinifex Hill artists.

Marapikurrinya Park – Richardson Street, Port Hedland

Overlooking the harbour, Marapikurrinya Park is the perfect place to watch the world go by. Located in the heart of the Port Hedland CBD, this is a great park to enjoy your lunch during work hours or for a family picnic. The park has a playground, plenty of parking, shade, seating and toilets. It is also adjacent to the jetty and port operations.

Head over to the Port Hedland Visitor Centre (3 to 5 minute walk) for ship viewing times which are displayed on a board outside the centre.

Captain Bert Madigan Park – Richardson Street, Port Hedland (opposite McKay Street)

Another park that overlooks the harbour, Captain Bert Madigan Park has seating, shade and toilets. It is also next to the Port Hedland boat ramp so makes for a great meeting place for your big fishing adventure. Opposite the park, the historical Old Port Hedland Medical Quarters is being renovated into a new Dome Coffee café, transforming this end of the West End into a vibrant commercial hub.

Civic Centre Gardens - 13 McGregor Street, Port Hedland

The beautiful Town of Port Hedland Civic Centre Gardens is located behind the Town of Port Hedland’s Civic and Administration Centre, overlooking the foreshore area of Port Hedland. The large grassed space is ideal for functions and events and is available for general usage and hire to the public. Facilities include toilets, a BBQ and picnic area. Whilst the Town of Port Hedland cannot grant exclusive use of any park, the secluded location of this particular space makes it an ideal option for those hoping to keep their function or event semi-private.

Shay Gap Memorial Park – Traine Crescent, South Hedland

This family park is located in the heart of a local neighbourhood, and is within walking distance from many streets. The park has a playground and plenty of grassed space. It’s central location makes it a great place to hold community and neighbourhood events.

Koombana Park – corner Captains Way and Steamer Avenue, South Hedland

This new park has activated the Koombana neighbourhood and complements the new housing being built in this area. Featuring playgrounds for younger and older children, BBQs, seating and shade, CCTV coverage as well as integrated footpaths with surrounding streets this is a great family park to spend your weekend in. The park is available for bookings and there is plenty of parking. It is within walking distance from most streets in the Koombana area.

Courthouse Gallery Gardens – 16 Edgar Street, Port Hedland

Located in the West End adjacent to the Port Hedland Courthouse Gallery, the Silver Star and the Port Hedland Visitor Centre, this is an ideal park for a small community or private event. With parking available along Edgar Street, and toilets located in the ANZ Carpark the Courthouse Gallery Gardens is a great option for a daytime function.

South Hedland Town Square – Wise Terrace, South Hedland

The South Hedland Town Square is located directly adjacent to the South Hedland Square (shopping centre). The Town Square facilities include a grassed outdoor amphitheatre with access to power, water-play features, interactive public art structures, public toilets and open spaces.

With its prime location, infrastructure and surrounds, the Town Square provides an exciting opportunity for community interaction and participation. The Town Square facilities are available for use on a casual basis or for community events by Not for Profit Community Groups (also including schools, fundraising groups, sporting groups) and Commercial groups.

Pretty Pool Park – Matheson Drive, Pretty Pool

A popular park with residents, Pretty Pool Park is situated at the entry to Pretty Pool beach. The park is located within the Pretty Pool neighbourhood making it an ideal location for small gatherings. There are a number of public BBQs, as well as seating, shade, parking, water fountains for both kids and dogs and a a playground. There are also public toilets located in the carpark.

Yikara Park (Pirate Park) – Yikara Drive, Pretty Pool

Yikara Park is located in the new housing development area in Pretty Pool and is a family-friendly park. With BBQs, shade and seating and pirate-themed play equipment this is a great park to have a birthday party or a family picnic. Limited parking available, however it is within walking distance of most streets.
