Rating Strategy 2019/20

Striking the right balance for all rate payers, improved service delivery and long-term financial sustainability for the Town of Port Hedland remain the key objectives of the Statement of Rating Objects and Reasons for the 2019/20 rating year.

The statement is now open for consultation and will remain open until 12 pm, Wednesday 22 May 2019.

The Town’s 2019/20 proposed strategy continues to move towards a uniform rating model evolving to provide a level of certainty and consistency for ratepayers within a stable long term rates model.

The Town’s proposed strategy would apply a 4% increase on rating categories, excluding GRV Mass and Tourist Accommodation and UV Mining and Other.

A uniform rating strategy allows property values to be the main determining factor in the differences between any rates bills, and an increase in the rate in the dollar ensures financial viability for the Town.

Consultation can be completed via post addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Town of Port Hedland, PO Box 41, Port Hedland WA 6721 and clearly marked Submission – Differential Rating 2019/20.
