Basketball at the JD Hardie Youth Zone

The JD is having a sport filled Term 3 and 4, with a number of basketball initiatives going on for young people to enjoy!

SLAM basketball is set to be bigger and better than ever, with a number of sessions designed to engage young people with outdoor sports, friendships and educational messages.

SLAM is a youth diversionary program which engages youth in the Hedland community. It runs on Friday nights at the JD Hardie Youth Zone in South Hedland, and is held approximately 40 times per financial year.

Sessions commence at 5.30pm and run until 10pm.

12 October - 7 October SLAM Basketball to be conducted weekly
20 October Hedland Youth Basketball Challenge at the JD Hardie Youth Zone
26 October NO SLAM - Annual Halloween Disco at the JD Hardie Youth Zone
16 November Basketball WA will be conducting 3 x 3 Streetball workshop for stakeholders (times to be confirmed)
16 November Basketball WA will be conducting SLAM basketball as a 3 x 3 Streetball

Basketball Development Clinic

The JD Hardie Youth Zone along with the Town of Port Hedland will be presenting two Basketball Development Clinics for youth aged 12 to 16 years old.

Each clinic will run over two days and there will be one clinic for girls and one clinic for boys. The girl’s clinic will be the 29th and 30th January and the boy’s clinic will be the 31st of January and the 1st of February. The clinics will run from 12:30 PM - 6:30 PM each day.

There is no cost for the clinics.

Registration forms are to be completed and handed into the JD Hardie Youth Zone.

There are limited spaces available for these clinics so we encourage people that are interested to register as soon as possible.

Registrations close November 23rd.
