The official opening of the new Port Hedland Library in the Port Hedland Boulevard Shopping Centre will be at 11:30am on Thursday, 26 March 2020.

This event will feature Lego and Duplo play, free cake and an official opening by Hon. Commissioner Fred Riebeling AM JP.

The new library will feature a modern and accessible design, with a renewed focus on digital engagement for 21st Century learning.

Hon. Commissioner Fred Riebeling said the opening of the new facility delivered on the Town’s commitment to re-establish a library service in Port Hedland.

“Following the transition of the Dempster Street site to space for child care service delivery, I was determined to find another suitable site in Port Hedland to re-stablish the service for all families to enjoy.

“The Town’s staff and contractors have worked hard to ensure the site has been delivered to a high standard, with an improved accessible location set to enhance the library going experience for all ages.

“Port Hedland Libraries have a track record of delivering programs such as Storytime, Baby Rhyme Time and the Older Wiser Library Seniors program; I’m so pleased staff and patrons will have a new space to learn, grow and play.

“There’s going to be lots of fun and festivities at the opening event, so I encourage everyone to come along on the day.”
