Young people leading the way in Hedland

Published on Thursday, 16 January 2020 at 3:43:47 PM

The Town of Port Hedland’s Youth Leadership and Development Grant contributed to the costs of eight young people from Hedland attending the Youth Catholic Festival in Perth last December.

The Festival gave attendees the opportunity to develop their leadership qualities and meet other young people from across the country.

Participants were empowered to explore new career pathways and opportunities, demonstrating how leadership skills can support their future endeavours.

Hon. Commissioner Fred Riebeling said the group of young people exemplified the positive impact the Youth Leadership and Development Grant has in the community.

“I’d like to congratulate the eight young people from Hedland who attended the Youth Catholic Festival, an event which empowers attendees to embrace leadership.

“I’m proud the Town’s Youth Leadership and Development Grant contributed to the costs of the trip, a grant which seeks to facilitate personal development and growth.

“The young people who attended can now action the insights gained at the festival, leading to positive changes in the Hedland community.

“The Town’s grants program appeals to a cross section of the community, from local community organisations, businesses, sports people and more.

“I encourage everyone to learn more about the Town’s grants program to see how it can assist them in making Hedland an even better place to call home.”
