Published on Friday, 14 December 2018 at 2:01:29 PM

The winners of the 2018 Festive Lights and Decorations Competition have been announced, thanks to Gold Sponsor Horizon Power and Media Sponsor the Northwest Telegraph.

  • Best Display in South Hedland: Monoghan family at 25 Minderoo Avenue
  • Best Display in Port Hedland: Brooks family at 6 Grant Place
  • Best Sustainable Display: Larado family at 120 Sutherland Street in Port Hedland

Mayor Camilo Blanco congratulated the winners of the competition, and commended all the 2018 entrants.

“When I drove around Hedland this week, it was fantastic to see so many homes getting into the festive spirit with creative decorations and displays.

“Judging this year’s entries was no easy feat: my fellow judges and I had a tough time picking our favourites.

“Each year it seems to grow in popularity, with a bit of friendly rivalry between Port and South upping the stakes.

“I’d like to congratulate the Monoghan, Brooks and Larado families on winning their categories, as well as everyone who were entrants for all your hard work.”

The People’s Choice Category winner will be announced on Saturday 22 December at the Twilight Movies session in the Civic Centre Gardens, and on the Town’s Facebook Page.
