Wanangkura Playground Renewal to Deliver Action and Fun

Published on Friday, 14 December 2018 at 8:23:06 AM

As part of the Town of Port Hedland’s playground renewal program, the playground adjacent to the Wanangkura Stadium will be upgraded and extended in the coming months to create a more accessible, inclusive and exciting playspace.

The upgrades will keep the majority of infrastructure in place, with the addition of a NEOS 360 which will appeal to children of all ages.  NEOS combines the thrill of video games with physical interaction, providing kids of all ages and abilities with a fun, healthy outlet for their energy.  The playgrounds facelift will also include updating of the infrastructure and additional minor elements to promote inclusive play.

Mayor Camilo Blanco said the upgrade was part of the Town of Port Hedland’s commitment to renew, upgrade and reinvest in the Town’s assets.

“I’m pleased this upgrade is now secured, delivering on both the Town’s Strategic Community Plan 2018-2028 and the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2017-2022 to make Hedland a more liveable place for everyone.

“As well as improving accessibility, the upgrade will also ensure the equipment is fit for purpose, modern and safe for all users.

“Improving accessibility and inclusion is a core objective for us over the next decade, and I look forward to further developments in 2019.”
