Published on Friday, 7 May 2021 at 1:12:41 PM

The latest round of the Town’s Business Tourism and Innovation Grant (the Grant) is now open, giving local for-profit businesses the opportunity to apply for up to $2,000.

This funding round closes at midnight, Monday 31 May 2021.

The Grant is intended to cover items directly related to customer or tourism engagement, as well as necessary equipment.

The Grant is one of the only Town grants that local for-profit businesses can apply for, covering items such as certification, permits and licensing fees; website design and development; equipment; advertising and promotional costs; material for performances, uniforms and activities; additional staffing related to delivering the proposed activities; construction; signage; PPE and safety items and administration fees up to 10% of the project’s total cost.

Items not covered include the purchase, supply or licensing of alcohol; private or invitation only events; administration fees over 10% of the project’s total cost; operational organisation costs and consultants or business plans.

Mayor Peter Carter encouraged local micro and small businesses in particular to apply.

“Times may be tough, but innovating the way your business or community group operates can make things easier – that’s where the Town’s Business Tourism and Innovation Grant can help.

“We’re on the lookout for ideas which not only boost business innovation, but also encourage visitors to come and see what Hedland has to offer.

“In this funding round, we’re focussing on ideas which raise the profile of Hedland as a must visit destination, particularly among WA residents.”
