The Town of Port Hedland is running six small neighbourhood events across Hedland in July and August, inviting community members back to social gatherings in line with COVID-19 restrictions.
The See You At… neighbourhood events series will feature music, face painting, family friendly activities, food vendors and more. Attendees are invited to bring along their own toys, activities, chairs and rugs.
The aim of the events are to provide inclusive, neighbourhood based spaces to catch up and have fun after months of restrictions.
Hon. Commissioner Fred Riebeling AM JP said WA communities have worked hard to limit the spread of COVID-19, allowing social gatherings to recommence.
“The See You At… series is an initiative from the Town of Port Hedland Events Team, inviting local families back to public spaces to enjoy a range of activities and each other’s company.
“Featuring family friendly activities, food vendors and music, these events are designed to ease local residents back into public events after months of social isolation.
“I’d like to commend the local community for rising to the challenge of COVID-19, doing the right thing and helping the WA flatten the curve. Because of people’s commitment to public health, we can begin to take another step towards normality and start to run small scale events.
“As we’re seeing in other states, the COVID-19 pandemic is far from over, so it’s really important that we all remain vigilant by abiding by public health advice.
“We’re asking everyone who attends to please exercise social distancing, keep up the hand sanitising for big and little hands and do not attend if you are unwell.”
