The Town’s Sunset Food Markets are returning to the West End’s Marapikurrinya Park in 2022 from 5pm to 9pm Friday 6 May, featuring food vendors, family friendly activities, live music by local acoustic musicians and a market bar.
This year’s market dates include 24 June, 12 August, 16 September and 14 October.
The event series is presented by the Town of Port Hedland and BHP, and event managed by PPP Events.
The markets are held under ambient festoon lighting in the park, providing visitors with the opportunity to enjoy a selection of delicious food options as the ships go by in the port.
Mayor Peter Carter welcomed the return of the Sunset Food Markets series, a popular community event on the calendar.
“The 2022 Sunset Food Markets are presented by the Town of Port Hedland and BHP, and event managed by PPP Events, bringing back a popular event established in 2019.
“The event brings Hedland’s food vendors together under ambient festoon lighting, activating Marapikurrinya Park and drawing locals and tourists to the Portside district.
“As well as food vendors, there’ll be live acoustic musicians and family friendly activities to enjoy, so come along to the first market on Friday 6 May.”
BHP General Manager Port Operations Cindy Dunham said: “This investment provides an opportunity for the Portside district to come alive as a vibrant hub of food and entertainment, bringing together the community and local food vendors creating a revitalised west end for all of Port Hedland to enjoy.”
Proof of vaccination status will be required upon entry to the market bar, however is not required to enter the food vendor section. All visitors are required to check-in upon arrival at the event, either via the ServicesWA app or hard copy sign in.
Attendees are asked to please maintain social distancing where possible, cover coughs and sneezes with their elbow, keep hands washed and sanitised and do not enter if unwell.
