Community members are invited to attend the free Shay Gap Memorial Park Event on Saturday 25 July from 4:30pm, celebrating the site’s newly renovated playground.
There will be face painting, food vans, a scavenger hunt and a movie screening from 6PM for the whole family to enjoy.
The event is drug and alcohol free, family friendly and accessible.
Hon. Commissioner Fred Riebeling AM JP said the event was a great opportunity to come together, experience the new playground and join in the festivities.
“Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we had to cancel the official opening of the new playground in March. However, the Events Team were able to regenerate the event for July!
“If you haven’t been before, you’ll notice the new playground on site. Completed by Yurra Pty Ltd for $824,945, the new playground features a tower, more space and Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED).
“This is the first event the Town has been able to hold since restrictions were eased, so it’s a great opportunity to venture out and enjoy a free evening of family entertainment.
“We’ve been able to engage local businesses to provide the evening’s food and entertainment options, supporting the local economy.
“It’s still really important when attending to be mindful of social distancing, keep big and little hands sanitised and please stay home if you are unwell.”
