Port Hedland to Welcome its First Cruise Ship for 2018

Published on Tuesday, 13 February 2018 at 12:00:00 AM

Crafts, art and entertainment will be on the cards for our cruise ship visitors on Monday 26 February.

Radiance of the Seas is due to dock at 9 am with markets kicking off from that time at Marapikurrinya Park. The Courthouse Gallery will be showing their latest exhibitions, Pujiman and Learn Me, and Lisa Rose and her joeys will be located in the Sealanes building.

Port Hedland Mayor Camilo Blanco is encouraging local community members to come down and soak up the welcoming atmosphere.

“Port Hedland receives significant positive feedback from cruise ship passengers and the Town of Port Hedland is committed to developing our town as a vibrant and momentous stopover point for visiting cruise ships.

“Tourism features high on the agenda in diversifying our local economy and the Town is exploring opportunities to grow this industry and increase visitors to Port Hedland and indeed the Pilbara.

“With up to 2,000 passengers expected to hit our shores, it is an excellent opportunity to showcase to tourists the operations at the world’s largest bulk export port.

“Anyone wishing to capture photos of the cruise ship entering our harbour should head down to Marapikurrinya Park by 8.30am.”
