North West Ageing and Aged Care Strategy

Published on Wednesday, 8 November 2017 at 12:00:00 AM

Town of Port Hedland Councillors Julie Arif and Louise Newbery attended the launch of the North West Ageing and Aged Care Strategy in Karratha this week.

The strategy was developed by Regional Development Australia Pilbara in partnership with Regional Development Australia Kimberley and funding from Lotterywest.

The study aims to achieve a map and gap analysis of ageing and aged care services and facilities currently in the region, explore models for aged care provision, challenge the view that people don’t want to retire in the North West, focus on providing opportunities for Aboriginal people to age in place and lastly, to develop a comprehensive plan that identifies guiding principles, realistic goals and strategic outcomes with specific actions.
