Live it, Tell it, Creative Hedland Engagement Exercise Launches

Published on Monday, 6 May 2019 at 9:22:03 AM

An online and face to face consultation exercise has launched today, to inform the direction of the Creative Hedland Arts and Culture Strategy 2019-2022.

Live it, Tell it, Creative Hedland will run until Monday 27 May, giving Hedland’s residents the opportunity to have a say on how they’d like to see creative programming delivered over the next three years.

An online survey is easily accessible on the Town of Port Hedland website, with a number of focus group sessions planned with key stakeholders.

There will also be pop up stalls at a number of events around town during May, where you will have the chance to ask questions and participate in activities.

Mayor Camilo Blanco encouraged residents to have their say in the survey to shape the arts and culture vision for Hedland.

“As a Town, we’re developing a strategy which first and foremost reflects the people of Hedland, their experiences and their stories.

“Perhaps you’ve always wanted to see different events or public art installations, or more library space activation: now is your chance to voice your opinion.

“We want to cultivate an arts and cultural scene which celebrates the rich and culturally significant history of our region, as well as embracing the future.

“Grassroots art has always thrived in Hedland, with creatives across a variety of disciplines contributing to the artistic fabric of our community.

“A key component of the strategy is to determine the role community organisations can play, making sure as many stakeholder groups as possible have genuine buy in.

“I look forward to evaluating the community feedback we receive.”
