Landfill moves to 24 hours for house hold waste disposal

Published on Wednesday, 11 July 2018 at 8:49:33 AM

The South Hedland Landfill will be introducing changes to its opening hours after the successful trial of our 24 hour household waste disposal services in June.

Commencing Wednesday 1 August, revised opening hours will be as follows:

  • Monday – Friday: 7.30am – 4.30pm (last entry 4.15pm)
  • Saturday: 8am – 4pm (last entry 3.45pm)
  • Sunday: closed

With dedicated household waste skip bins available at the front entrance as follows:

  • Monday – Saturday: 4.15pm – 7.30am
  • Sunday: 24 hours

Port Hedland Mayor Camilo Blanco welcomed the changes as a positive move for the town.

“We have been listening to feedback, and the overwhelming message is that in our community people want to be able to deliver household waste outside of what could be considered normal operating hours,” Mayor Blanco explained.

“These changes will see an increase in service levels to the community while simultaneously reducing operating costs at the facility”

“I encourage everyone to make use of this fantastic service and please ensure that waste is disposed of inside the bins to ensure our town is kept safe and tidy.”
