The renovation of active sporting ovals across Hedland will commence tomorrow, providing sporting clubs and residents with better usability.
Ovals require renovation of the surface to ensure that the overall health and quality of the turf is maintained, preventing degeneration.
The renovations will be completed in two stages: the first in February, with the second scheduled for November.
The renovations will include verti-mowing, the process of removing excessive thatch which collects near the lawns’ surface.
Verti-draining will also be undertaken, the process of alleviating water logging to promote healthy turf growth.
The works are expected to last for 22-25 days, commencing in South Hedland and then moving to Port Hedland.
Works will be undertaken from 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday, potentially occurring from 9am to 2pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Please see below for a list of ovals receiving renovation:
- Marie Marland (baseball end)
- Kevin Scott
- Colin Matheson
- McGregor Street Oval
- Turf club (track)
All works have been planned to minimise disturbance to local sporting and community groups which utilise the ovals.
Please exercise caution around works crews during this process, and abide by any signage in the area.
