Hedland votes in Local Government Election

On Saturday, votes were counted in the Hedland Ordinary Local Government Election, electing one Mayor and four Councillors to serve their respective terms until 18 October 2025.

Incumbent Mayor Peter Carter was re-elected with 967 votes.

For the position of Councillor, Flo Bennett was elected with 1,064 votes, Ash Christensen was elected with 924 votes, Tim Turner was elected with 794 votes and David Eckhart was elected with 589 votes.

CEO Carl Askew congratulated the elected candidates.

“I congratulate Peter on his re-election as Mayor of the Town of Port Hedland, as well as Flo, Ash, Tim and David for their election to Council.

“I’d like to thank all candidates for putting their hand up to serve their community, and for all the local residents who cast their ballot in this election.

“Voting in local government elections means your voice is represented in Council, shaping the decisions which impact our communities.

“The Town’s Executive Leadership Team and staff look forward to working with Council for the remainder of 2021 and into the new year, building on the progress we’ve made in recent years to improve Hedland’s liveability.”
