Christmas is fast approaching, which means it’s time to light up Hedland as part of the 2019 Festive Lights Competition.
This year’s competition will feature three separate categories, including Best Display (which will include a runner-up), Best Sustainable Display and People’s Choice.
Nominations are now open, and there are four cash prizes on offer ranging from $350 to $850.
Hon. Commissioner Fred Riebeling said Hedlanders had gone all-out in their efforts in previous years and he expected the same enthusiasm in 2019.
“Christmas is a special time of year, and the Festive Lights Competition is a great way for the whole community to get into the festive spirit.”
“I can’t wait to see the quality of displays that will be showcased around the town and encourage everyone to get involved.”
“The sustainable category allows community members to get creative with how they approach their display while demonstrating their eco-friendly credentials
“All eligible nominations will go into the voting for the coveted people’s choice award.”
Nominations close on Wednesday 4 December 2019 and judging will take place on 10 December.
The Town of Port Hedland will issue a map with all of the lit-up houses and will also run a bus on Tuesday 10 December to visit each of the participating households.
