Have your say in the South Hedland Place Plan

Published on Wednesday, 7 April 2021 at 3:38:16 PM

The Town is currently developing the South Hedland Place Plan (Place Plan) to facilitate a community-driven approach that connects and engages residents, businesses and stakeholders.

The Place Plan aims to guide government, community, business and property industry collaboration, to create a safer, more attractive and vibrant South Hedland City Centre.

Outcomes of the Place Plan will guide future initiatives, including public space and streetscape upgrades, economic and community activation through events and marketing and art and cultural projects, and policy and procedural improvements concerning place governance.

The Place Plan will be informed by insights gathered during in-person and online survey consultation, asking locals their views to build a stronger and healthier community.

Mayor Peter Carter encouraged residents, businesses and community groups to participate during the consultation period to have their views heard.

“Placemaking is about creating places that people love and feel connected to, ensuring our approach is community-driven and reflects the sentiments of residents.

“The South Hedland Place Plan will provide Council with a blueprint for future initiatives which will improve activity, vibrancy and shape the future of the City Centre.

“Council and I are committed to creating Place Plans which are grounded in the community’s values.”

Upcoming Consultation:

An online survey will be released in April.

The focused in-person consultation activities will run from Tuesday, 20 April until Friday, 23 April 2021.
