Get to know your neighbours before cyclone season

Published on Tuesday, 22 October 2019 at 8:08:54 AM

Applications are invited to the Town’s Friendly Neighbourhood Grant, giving local residents the opportunity to host a public gathering.

With cyclone season fast approaching, knowing who lives in your area improves everyone’s safety. It’s particularly important that people with additional needs and senior residents are checked on and made to feel safe during cyclonic weather events.

The maximum value of the grant depends on the number of people at the gathering: $100 for 20 to 30 people, $200 for 40 to 60 people and $250 for more than 60 people.

The Grant covers catering for Kumawarniku (gathering in Kariyarra) and the cost of a coffee van for a street event.

Costs not covered include events held on private property, alcohol, fundraising events and events where the purpose does not meet this Grant’s objectives.
