Forum Puts Young People at the Forefront

Published on Friday, 30 November 2018 at 11:18:24 AM

The upcoming Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Consultation Forum will focus on how service providers from across Hedland can empower young people for the future.

The Forum on “Hedland’s Future Generations” will be held from 9AM to 1PM on Monday, 3 December at Lotteries House in South Hedland.

Topics covered will centre on addressing two Overcoming Indigenous Disadvantage (OID) indicators: Early Childhood Development, and Education and Training.

Addressing these indicators will improve the educational and career prospects for young people across the community, assisting population retention.

Statically, young people in regional WA face more challenges relating to high school completion and employment options.

Agencies and groups with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff members are encouraged to appoint these employees to represent them at this Forum, where possible.

If you have any questions, please contact Maureen Kelly OAM on 0428 567 167 or Cara Dixon on 08 9158 9325.

If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Cara Dixon on cdixon@porthedland.wa.gov.au.
