Explore WA safely with RAC safe travels workshops

Published on Friday, 23 October 2020 at 2:55:19 PM

Membership organisation RAC will be providing a number of free vehicle health check sessions and caravan safety training sessions this October and November, helping Hedland residents explore WA safely.

RAC will be able to inspect vehicle tyres, lights, batteries and more to ensure vehicles are in good shape to get back on the road. These vehicle health checks do not require a booking.

RAC will also be offering free caravan safety training sessions. During the 1.5 hour sessions, attendees will learn how to safely reverse caravans, check tyres and understand vehicle weights along with other useful tips. Bookings are essential for these sessions via www.rac.com.au/safetravels.

This initiative seeks to take the worry out of preparing vehicles for your next adventure, particularly as more residents are holidaying locally due to current border restrictions.

Mayor Peter Carter encouraged local residents to take advantage of the free RAC Safe Travels workshops, particularly in the lead up to the Christmas period.

“I’d like to thank RAC for offering free vehicle health checks and caravan safety training sessions for regional communities, helping families explore our fantastic state safely.

“It’s easy to put off maintenance, but there’s nothing worse than breaking down in a remote location with no phone reception and limited supplies. Making sure your vehicle is maintained to a high standard and gaining an understanding of the fundamentals can help give you peace of mind on your next trip.

“These sessions will be hosted at South Hedland Square, Port Hedland Boulevard and the Hedland Hotel, providing locals with easy to get to locations across the LGA. I encourage everyone with a vehicle, especially those planning a long trip, to attend.”

RAC General Manager Corporate Affairs, Will Golsby, remarked on the importance of road safety in the lead up to Christmas.

“With such a big increase in regional visitors, we want to make sure everyone gets to and from their destinations safely – that’s why we launched our Safe Travels initiative.

“Our Safe Travels offers free vehicle safety checks and free caravan safety lessons to ensure more Western Australians are exploring our great State safely.”
