Award Winning West Australian author, Dianne Wolfer, will be the special guest speaker at the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce and Town’s June Business Breakfast on Wednesday 5 June at the WEB Business Hub.
Ms Wolfer is the recipient of the 2010 WA Young Reader’s Book Award for The Lighthouse Girl, crafting an extensive repertoire of creative storytelling across 19 children and young adult books. Her latest book, The Dog With Seven Names, was shortlisted for the 2019 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards.
In this session, Ms Wolfer will share her insights of what is involved in transforming creative passion into a livable income.
Mayor Camilo Blanco said the Chamber of Commerce had once again secured an esteemed guest with rich life experience.
“The Business Breakfast Series connects organisations in Hedland with industry leaders, providing an opportunity to learn, network and share ideas.
“Ms Wolfer exemplifies the possibilities of the creative industries, turning her passion for writing into a career which has flourished for decades.
“She is a member of the Society of Women Writers, Fellowship of Australian Writers, Children’s Book Council, Amnesty International and the Australian Conservation Foundation.
“Here in Hedland, we have a dynamic creative scene driven by individuals who take risks by turning their ideas into start-up ventures.
“I’d like to acknowledge the work the WEB Business Hub has done since its inception, offering these start-ups the platform to learn and grow.
“I encourage everyone to come along and hear Ms Wolfer’s inspiring words.”
