Cassia Footbridge Renewal a Step Ahead

Published on Friday, 15 February 2019 at 10:51:40 AM

Works have completed on the Cassia Footbridge Renewal Project in South Hedland, providing local residents with better usability and accessibility in the area.

The works, completed by contractor D & S Wells, demolished three concrete pedestrian bridges surrounding Cassia Primary School and replaced them with wider streel structures.

The new steel structures are resilient to the elements and provide more room for pedestrian foot traffic.

The project commenced in late January, concluding this past weekend.

Mayor Camilo Blanco said the project was part of the Town’s commitment to reinvest in the infrastructure assets which keep Hedland moving.

“I’m pleased this project has been delivered as part of the 2018/19 annual budget, which prioritises investment in Hedland’s core infrastructure assets.

“These new bridges will stand the test of time, in particular supporting the students of Cassia Primary School now and into the future.

“I look forward to the community utilising this upgrade, as well as seeing more infrastructure upgrades in the months ahead.
