Break Down Barriers with the Women's Adventure Film Tour this September

Published on Friday, 30 August 2019 at 12:03:11 PM

The Women’s Adventure Film Tour will be screening 7.30pm, Friday 6 September at the Matt Dann Theatre and Cinema in South Hedland.

Presented by Adventure Film Tours and She Went Wild, the Tour celebrates inspiring women in society who are doing extraordinary things in the name of adventure, captured on film.

An objective of the Tour is to address the under representation of female adventurers on the big screen.

Overcoming adversity, reaching new heights and demonstrations of exemplary leadership are a snapshot of this year’s themes, inspiring audiences around the world.

Last year, the Tour successfully toured the USA, UK and Asia, with 55 screenings across Australia and New Zealand alone.

Hon. Commissioner Fred Riebeling said the Tour brought the best of independent cinema to the heart of the Pilbara, giving local residents an unmissable experience.

“Over 30,000 people globally have experienced the Tour, with each location receiving a bespoke selection of tailored content to complement the region.

“Films are selected based on their salience in advocating for equality and empowerment, values we share in our community.

“Once again, the Matt Dann Theatre and Cinema have delivered a film Tour which expands the repertoire of movie going experience in Hedland.

“I’d encourage everyone to come along and witness an inspiring display of cinema.”
