Boost for local construction business with JD Hardie site refurbishment

Local construction company MJW Building has been awarded the nearly $7 million contract for the JD Hardie site refurbishment works, supporting local jobs and progressing the delivery of the site’s masterplan.

MJW Building, based in Wedgefield, have a strong reputation for delivering construction projects in Hedland over the past decade, from residential builds to large scale public projects.

The site works will include new roof and cladding installation, structural modifications, HVAC installation, demolitions and the alteration of interior spaces, including the modification of internal layouts.

Hon. Commissioner Fred Riebeling AM JP said he was pleased the project would be directly supporting a local business and contributing to job creation.

MJW Building has been awarded the nearly $7 million contract for the JD Hardie site refurbishment works, set to create a more modern and usable space for local families.

“Through the Town’s local procurement policy, it’s great to be able to allow local businesses and workers the opportunity to refurbish our community facilities.

“The works are projected to be completed before cyclone season starts, with Town staff delivering youth programming at Wanangkura Stadium and South Hedland Skate Park during the works.

MJW Building Managing Director, Matt Webb, said his team was eager to be a part of the delivery of the JD Hardie site masterplan.

“Since 2011, MJW Building has built up a strong record for delivering a high standard of construction projects across Hedland, supporting the needs of our local community.

“We’ve worked with government agencies, private businesses, home builders and more, taking the time to understand the needs of our clients to deliver quality builds to time, scope and expectation.
