Blues and Folk on the Horizon for North West Festival Sundowner

Published on Thursday, 20 June 2019 at 9:04:39 AM

The ARIA Award nominated blues musician Ash Grunwald will headline this year’s family friendly North West Festival Sundowner on Sunday 25 August, proudly presented by Fortescue Metals Group.

Ash will be joined by folk rock royalty The Pierce Brothers, as well as a high calibre of local Pilbara musical talent.

The family friendly Sundowner event has been well received in previous years, providing all ages with the chance to experience world class acts in the picturesque Civic Centre Gardens.

The event will also feature plenty of food stalls and roving performers to entertain the kids.

Mayor Camilo Blanco welcomed the return of the Sundowner, pointing to its success in attracting families from across the region.

“As the Pilbara’s Premier music event, it’s important we give everyone the opportunity to h in family friendly surrounds.

“Ash has released four albums which climbed the ARIA charts, and he won the 2013 APRA Blues & Roots Work of the Year Award for Longtime.

“Pierce Brothers are known for their unique brand of folk music, going from busking on Melbourne’s streets to embarking on a world tour stretching the USA, Europe and the UK.

“We’re also going to feature fantastic Pilbara artists, as we believe in the importance of showcasing the unique brand of creativity and musicality our region is known for.

“I look forward to attending this year’s Sundowner and I’m sure it will once again attract families from far and wide.”
