Published on Friday, 17 September 2021 at 9:47:55 AM

The Town’s Annual Oval Renovation Program will start on Tuesday 21 September to maintain and improve public ovals across the Hedland LGA.

Works will include removing thatch build up to promote new growth, aerating and de-compacting soil, applying soil fertiliser and turf upgrades in the goal areas. Works have a projected conclusion date of Sunday 10 October.

This year the sites being worked on are: Colin Matheson Oval, Kevin Scott Oval, Marie Marland Oval, McGregor Oval, Port Hedland Turf Club and the Civic Centre.

Benefits of the works include improved playing fields for town sports teams, better aesthetics and asset longevity.

Please be mindful of workers carrying out the program, abide by signage and do not disrupt works.

Additionally, weed spraying of verges will start on Monday 27 September. Residents who do not want their verges sprayed are advised to please contact the Town via 9158 9300 prior to this date.
