The Town of Port Hedland is working with sports teams to relocate matches planned for the start of this year’s Hedland Junior Soccer Association season to fields in South Hedland.
The Town engaged contractors to undertake leveling works at the McGregor Street ovals.
Inspection of the fields has found further work is required to ensure an adequate and safe playing surface for the matches.
At this stage it is expected that the first half of the season will need to be played in South Hedland.
The Town is now working with contractors to complete further levelling works to ensure a high quality and safe playing surface is made available to the clubs later in the season.
