2019 Community Citizen of the Year Award Nominations Now Open

Nominations are now open for the 2019 Community Citizen of the Year Awards, recognising individuals and organisations across Hedland making notable contributions.
 
Areas of recognition include education, health, fund-raising, charitable and voluntary services, business, sport, arts, the environment, social inclusion or any area contributing to the advancement and wellbeing of Hedland.
 
The four award categories include Community Citizen of the Year, Award for Active Citizenship – Group or Event, Community Citizen of the Year – Senior and Community Citizen of the Year – Youth.
 
Mayor Camilo Blanco encouraged the community to think about the important people in their lives who have a made a positive impact.
 
“The backbone of our community are the people who give up their time on a daily basis to make Hedland a better place to call home.
 
“The award categories are designed to recognise the breadth of diversity and talent which builds our community, strengthens citizenship and shapes a brighter future.
 
“We are lucky to have so many community groups and volunteers who go above and beyond the call of duty.
 
“I’m sure it will be a hard decision to select the winners, as there’s so many worthy recipients. I look forward to the winners being announced early next year.
