By Car

The Festival and Sundowner are held at the Civic Centre Gardens - McGregor Street, Port Hedland.  

  • If you are driving from the south or east (ie. South Hedland, Karratha) turn right at Cooke Point Road and head north east for 1.4km. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto McGregor Street. Continue west then turn left at the Turf Club main entrance.
  • If you are driving from the north or west (ie. Port Hedland) then follow the directions along McGregor Street to the Turf Club main entrance.
  • When exiting the Festival and Sundowner please follow directions and utilise the Port Hedland Skate Park exit.

Please be sensible and safe and don’t drink and drive!

Police will be on hand to make sure the law is obeyed. We want you to enjoy yourself and to get home safely. Take one of the free shuttle buses, get dropped off or arrange a skipper, but please don’t drive if you are planning to drink.

By Bus 

We encourage you to take one of the free shuttles to and from the Festival and Sundowner. All shuttles are accessible for attendees utilising wheelchairs or prams

South Hedland Shuttle

Shuttles will be running between:

  • 4.00pm – 6.30pm on Saturday
  • 3.30pm – 5.30pm on Sunday

Shuttle buses depart from the Festival on Saturday night from 10.00pm until late, and depart the Sundowner on Sunday from 8.00pm until late.

The South shuttle buses will follow TransHedland Route 871 (South Hedland Circular Route – Clockwise), with an additional stop at Blackrock Caravan Park before heading into Port Hedland.

Patrons are advised to wait at any bus stop on TransHedland Route 871. The route map can be found here.

The South Hedland shuttle buses depart every 30 minutes (approximate times). 

Port Hedland Shuttle

Shuttles will be running between:

  • 4.00pm – 6.30pm on Saturday
  • 3.45pm – 5.45pm on Sunday 

Shuttles will depart the Festival on Saturday from 10.00pm until late, and depart the Sundowner on Sunday from 8.00pm until late.

Stop 3: Cnr Morgans & Howe Street

Stop 4: Cemetery Beach Park (Sutherland Street)

Stop 5: Yikara Park Bus Stop (Panjya Parade, Pretty Pool)

Stop 6: Pretty Pool Park (Matheson Drive, Pretty Pool)

Stop 7: Port Hedland Primary School (Corney Street)

If you are driving to the Festival and Sundowner, free parking is available at the Port Hedland Turf Club. Access the parking area via the Turf Club main entrance. To exit, please follow directions and exit at the Port Hedland Skate Park. Please do not smoke in the festival carpark as this is a fire risk.


Passenger drop offs/pickups, taxis and H Ride 

All cars, taxis and H Ride vehicles dropping off or picking up Festival and Sundowner patrons should head to the drop off/pick up areas located at the Turf Club. Do not try and pick up or drop off anywhere else as it disrupts the flow of traffic and you will be moved on.

Getting in

All patrons (no matter their age) need to present an event ticket (printed or electronic) in their name. All 18+ patrons must present a legal form of identification, which matches the ticket holder’s name. The only acceptable forms of photo identification are:

  • A current Australian driver’s license
  • A current passport
  • Proof of age card

Sorry, but due to WA Liquor Licensing restrictions, no alcohol is allowed to be brought into the Festival or Sundowner – all bags will be searched on entry by our friendly security staff.


Sorry, no passouts

Due to WA Liquor Licensing restrictions, there are no passouts from the Festival or Sundowner (ie. same day exit and re-entry). Therefore, you should make sure that you take everything you need with you into the Festival and Sundowner. This includes enough cash to get you through the day!


Food and drinks

Sorry, but no BYO alcohol. Due to WA Liquor Licensing restrictions, there is no alcohol allowed to be brought into the Festival or Sundowner. All bags will be searched on entry by our friendly security staff.

We are requesting that you do your bit, and leave the alcohol at home. There will be Police and Liquor Licensing presence within the Festival and Sundowner, and if you are found with alcohol, unfortunately, it will need to be confiscated and you may be fined. But even worse, your actions may result in the Festival and Sundowner being shut down for the years to come.

Please do your bit to ensure the North West Festival and Sundowner will be a fantastic experience for all in 2018 and future years.

Sealed plastic water, soft drink or juice bottles or cans are allowed into the Festival and Sundowner (note that all bottles will be opened and sniff-tested by security). Free tap water will be available inside the events from water stations.

There will be a great range of food options available at the Festival and Sundowner as part of the North West Festival experience. You can bring your own food however no glass bottles or containers please.



We play rain or shine, so if it’s looking like it is going to rain please bring some wet weather gear (note that umbrellas, including small, fold-up umbrellas are not permitted). Cancellations due to weather will occur only in the event of dangerous conditions and will be at Town of Port Hedland’s sole discretion.


What to bring/Not to bring

Bring with you...
  • Your ticket
  • Valid photo ID for 18+ patrons (refer to the information above the only forms of photo ID that will be accepted)
  • Enough cash to get you through the day (there are no ATM facilities and only one limited EFT available at both venues!)
  • Protection from the sun (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses)
  • If it looks like it’s going to rain, bring appropriate clothing
  • Some warm clothing as it will get chilly after dark
  • Comfy and enclosed shoes (thongs are great, but you may want to give your feet a break)
  • Small sized digital devices (phone, Go Pro, camera)
  • A good festival vibe.


Leave at home...
  • Alcohol or any illicit substance
  • Dangerous and quite frankly, uncool behaviour like moshing, climbing, crowd surfing or stage diving (don’t risk being ejected from the event)
  • Any unsealed bottles or cans
  • Glass vessels or containers
  • Clothing featuring Motor Cycle Gang colours, patches or insignias
  • Anything that could be used as a weapon (this includes eskies, chairs and umbrellas)
  • Professional photography, video equipment and tape recorders are not allowed without the event manger’s permission (i.e. any detachable lens, camera stands/selfie sticks or any lens over 20cm).
  • Animals (guide dogs excepted).


Information and Safety

If you have any questions or have lost something or someone, ask one of our friendly event (wearing bright pink shirts!) or security staff or visit the Lost & Found. If you need medical attention then get hold of a security staff member or head to First Aid. In the event of an emergency follow the directions of the security staff.

Please note excessive drinkers, illegal drug users or patrons displaying antisocial behaviour will be evicted and dealt with by Police.



Please note the North West Festival and Sundowner are accessible for attendees in wheelchairs or those utilising prams. The venue has accessible toilet and parking facilities, as well as limited seating throughout (indicated on below Access Map).

All shuttle buses for the event are accessible vehicles.

Assisted listening devices are available for the entertainment occurring on the main stage. Devices can be requested from Lost & Found.

The North West Festival and Sundowner accept Companion Card holders at no additional cost. To receive a Companion Card ticket please purchase an event ticket, then simply show your Companion Card at the event to receive a complimentary ticket (of the same type) for your companion.

Let’s ‘Do the Right Thing’ on highways, roadsides, the Turf Club, Civic Centre Gardens and surrounds. Dispose of your litter in the rubbish bins provided, recycle your cans in the Larry the Lizard sculpture or keep your litter with you until you find an appropriate place to dispose of it.


Respect thy neighbour

Please respect our lovely neighbours when exiting the venues and keep noise to a minimum.

If you have a fully self-contained RV you can utilise the RV overflow camping area at the Turf Club. This is provided on a first in best dressed basis and is patrolled by Rangers.
