An opportunity has become available for a fast paced and hardworking individual ready to work in Local Government. This position reports to the Principal Town Planner and is responsible for providing efficient and confidential administrative support to the department and Development, Sustainability & Lifestyle directorates employees.

The position will be based in Port Hedland, a town of rich heritage, spectacular landscapes, friendliness, a diverse and embracing community and relaxed lifestyle. As the largest bulk export port in the world, the town is home to global resource leaders and is significant to the national interest.

We are looking for a reliable and motivated individual to who can liaise with all levels of the business, external organisations and members of the public. You will be providing administrative support for the planning and building team, conducting swimming pool inspections and coordinating and assisting with issuing planning and building approvals. The Directorate is comprised of Town Planning, Building, Lands, Community Facilities, Environmental Health, Marketing, Communications and Events, and Engagements teams.

If you are well organised, have high level of interpersonal and customer service skills, highly developed verbal and written communication skills, advanced word processing skills, ability to prepare agendas and minutes for meetings and a proven ability to work under pressure we want to hear from you.

The preferred candidate will have previous experience in a similar administrative role and will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Tertiary qualification or previous experience working in an administrative role
  • Current ‘C’ class drivers licence
  • National Police Clearance
