The Role

The Town of Port Hedland has a new opportunity for a Finance Officer- Grants to join the team. The role will be providing financial administrative services, specifically the accurate reporting and acquittal of all grant funds along with financial processes ensuring compliant with Town policies and procedures. You will be maintaining a central register of external operating and capital grant funds received by The Town of Port Hedland. You will also be working collaboratively with the responsible business units to ensure the funds are appropriately expended, reported and acquitted against the associated projects.

Our ideal applicant will be able to demonstrate significant knowledge and experience of financial and accounting principles and procedures and a minimum two years of creditors experience. You will have an aptitude for accuracy and attention to detail as well as a high level of writing and verbal communication skills, and computer literacy skills.

You will be joining the team at an exciting time as the Town embarks on a culture of change with embracing of a wide range of new technologies, a large capitals works program, and a number of other projects that make the Town a desirable place to live and work.

Work Related Requirements

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting or related discipline 
  • National Police Clearance
  • Current ‘C’ class drivers license
  • Rights to work in Australia
