The Role

This is an exciting opportunity reporting to the Director of Corporate Services.  You will be leading and managing the operational aspects of the Towns corporate governance, risk & insurance, procurement and legal services. This dynamic role will allow you to inspire and guide collaborative, high-performing teams and influence the corporate governance of the Town across the different business units and with the elected members.

You will be joining the team at an exciting time as the Town embarks on a culture of change with embracing of a wide range of new technologies, a large capitals works program, and a number of other projects that make the Town a desirable place to live and work.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • A relevant tertiary degree, or lesser qualifications with substantial experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of local government administrative, property, and contract law.
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of teams.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills, including the preparation of legal advice and briefs for Council or CEO.
  • Experience and knowledge of local government meeting procedures and decision making processes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues around probity and ethics in local government.

Work Related Requirements

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • National Police Clearance
  • Current ‘C’ class drivers license
  • Rights to work in Australia

Salary negotiable depending on the individual’s skills and level of experience. Attractive total reward package which includes:
