The Town of Port Hedland is advancing in the professional services that we provide to the community.  This role offers a unique opportunity for an experienced Strategic Town Planner to lead in managing the strategic planning projects including the local planning strategy, scheme review and preparation of coastal management plans.  

The Strategic Planning Specialist will coordinate the Town’s planning and development activities. The role will lead a small team of project planning professionals as well as project managing and guiding external contractors to deliver strategic planning projects. The Strategic Planning Specialist will be the key strategic planning advisor for the Council, with delegated authority on certain planning matters.

We are seeking a planning professional who is interested in being part of the changes occurring in Port Hedland and the Pilbara. This position offers opportunity to extend skills and to be involved in new and significant planning activities. You will provide high level statutory and strategic planning advice to major stakeholders including Local Government, other state Government bodies, private sector consultancies and the general public.

This role requires an experienced planner in a similar position with urban and regional planning qualifications and relevant experience.    

Work Related Requirements

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning
  • National Police Clearance
  • Current ‘C’ class drivers licence
  • Whitecard
