$103,443.60 per annum (including Port Hedland Allowance)

The Senior Arts and Culture Officer reports directly to the Manager Marketing, Events & Communications and will be tasked to develop, implement and execute the Town’s calendar of events based on the Arts and Cultural Strategy. This position plays a key role in planning and facilitating a wide range of innovative arts and cultural programs whilst liaising with key stakeholders to ensure that all events and functions are managed in accordance with Council policies and budgets. The preferred candidate will lead and coordinate the Events and Technical staff in the delivery of cost effective, high quality community and cultural programs including overseeing the Matt Dann Cultural Centre which presents live shows and movies, as well as presentation and marketing of a diverse program of festivals events and activities.

As a creative and innovative professional you must enjoy working collaboratively, be highly organised, energetic and appreciate the importance of enriching lives through cultural activities and events. Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in a similar role, experience in staff supervision, and knowledge of WHS principals, a high level of time management skills as well as writing and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate will be confident in taking charge, leading and directing a team and can quickly adapt to changing priorities with a dynamic workload whilst working under pressure.

As the successful candidate you will be required to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, and demonstrate ability to research, develop and deliver a dynamic variety of public programs, including major festivals, cultural events and arts activities.

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Degree Qualifications in Hospitality, Events or Arts Management
  • Current ‘C’ class manual driver’s license
  • National Police Clearance
