The Community Safety Advisor will contribute to changing the narrative of Community Safety with the ability to strengthen existing and new stakeholder partnerships. This will involve administering the strategic Community Safety governance groups to ensure all initiatives outlined in the Community Safety Plan 2019-2022 is achieved and implemented. The successful applicant will have demonstrated strong community engagement skills with a diversity of stakeholders and think outside of the box from traditional models of Community Safety in Local Government.

The role of Community Safety Advisor is to develop and deliver a range of community safety programs and projects to build networks and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, and the community to achieve sustainable community outcomes.

This position is be based in Port Hedland, a town of rich heritage, spectacular landscapes, friendliness, a diverse and embracing community and relaxed lifestyle. As the largest bulk export port in the world, the town is home to global resource leaders and is significant to the national interest.

This position is not HSE/ WHS based and candidates with community development and engagement backgrounds will be preferred.

Position Requirements

The preferred candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in community development, social science, and/or related human services discipline
  • Current ‘C’ class drivers licence
  • National Police Clearance
