$90,678.64 pro-rata per annum (including Port Hedland Allowance)

The planning and development team at the Town of Port Hedland are preparing a planning and building compliance strategy to improve the safety and livability of the Town in accordance with the Strategic Community Plan 2018-2028. To achieve this, we are bringing together bright minds looking to take on this exciting challenge.

In this newly created role you will lead the preparation of a planning and building compliance strategy that focuses on addressing key safety and liveability issues in the Town. You will develop communications briefs with the Town’s marketing team to send out positive messages to the community on planning and building issues of concern, provide technical advice to stakeholders and the community, and work towards resolving key planning issues. This position will complete duties under the direct supervision of the Principal Town Planner, and will receive ongoing guidance and support in the application of tasks.

To be successful in this role, you will need knowledge of relevant planning theory, legislation, policy and ability to interpret appropriate application to facilitate compliance. We are seeking an individual who will thrive in a close knit team and has the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the business as well as external organisations.

The preferred candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in town planning, building surveying, environment, law or equivalent experience
  • Current ‘C’ class driver’s license
  • National Police Clearance
