Casual hourly rate from $20.87 - $32.96

The Town of Port Hedland is currently taking expressions of interest from reliable and motivated individuals to join our Parks & Gardens team.

This position will play a vital role in effectively maintaining the Town’s Parks and Open Spaces, which incorporates 4 ovals, 14 neighbourhood parks and 4 sports grounds, as well as various community facilities, landscaped areas and entry statements. Our ideal candidate has previous experience in the horticulture field, is passionate about the industry and thrives in a fast paced environment.

This is an open casual recruitment pool. The panel will regularly monitor this recruitment pool for applications, and will assess any applications received against the requirements of the particular vacancy. Suitable candidates will then be contacted to discuss the requirements of the role, after which casual appointments may be made.

Your Experience

  • Demonstrated experience operating small plant equipment related to horticulture, irrigation or turf management fields
  • Broad understanding of the role of horticultural, turf management and irrigation standards and techniques
  • Developed time management and organisational skills
  • Demonstrated team building skills and active involvement in team
  • Developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow detailed instruction either verbal or written
  • Punctual and reliable

Work Related Requirements

Work related requirements are defined in the relevant position description for each area. As a minimum, preferred applicants will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role as well as possess:

  • Sound knowledge and competency in the correct use in design, installation and Maintenance of commercial irrigation/park management systems
  • Current ‘LR’ class drivers licence
  • White Card
