Port Hedland hosts Deputy PM Warren Truss

Future development and leveraging federal funding was on the agenda as the Town of Port Hedland welcomed the Deputy Prime Minister the Honourable Warren Truss to Port Hedland last Thursday.

The Deputy Prime Minister was in Town to officially open the Great Northern Highway Realignment and took time from this busy schedule to meet with our Elected Members and Executive Team to discuss a range of topics including work being undertaken by the Northern Australia Taskforce and how we can obtain support for the development of the proposed Pilbara Fabrication and Services Common Use Facility at Lumsden Point.

Also on the agenda was support for our indigenous communities and current review into funding for Aboriginal and Islander families childcare services. The Town is eager to work with our Federal partners to ensure funding is in place for important services such as the Rose Nowers Early Learning Centre which is the only centre in town focussed on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island families.

Comedy show - Managing Carmen

Looking for an excuse to have a night out with the girls? We've got the perfect solution!

The Matt Dann Theatre and Cinema is proud to be presenting the comedy show, 'Managing Carmen', written by critically acclaimed Australian playwright David Williamson.

Guaranteed to make you laugh out loud, 'Managing Carmen' is about Brent Lyall - Bronlow medallist, footy captain of the nation's most powerful team and loving boyfriend who also has a secret - he loves to dress up in women's clothing. His agent, Rohan Swift is fearful of this leaking to the press so goes to great measures to keep his secret from becoming public knowledge.

'Managing Carmen' is an interesting look at how our society has constructed gender roles and what it means to challenge these notions.

Tickets are still on sale and can be purchased on the Matt Dann Theatre and Cinema website.

Prices are $34 for adults, $31 for concession, $30 for Matt's Mates and $24 for under 18.

'Managing Carmen' is recommended for audiences aged 16 years and over as it contains coarse language and adult themes.
