Wodgina Fly Camp Construction Approved

The Town of Port Hedland Council has approved the development application for the construction of temporary transient workforce accommodation and infrastructure at the Wodgina Mine, at last night’s Special Council meeting.

Wodgina Mine, known as the Wodgina Lithium Project, is owned and operated by Wodgina Lithium Pty Ltd and is located approximately 120km South of Port Hedland.

This decision will result in the construction of a 256 person temporary fly camp being constructed 300m North-East of the existing Wodgina camp.

The camp is expected to be utilised for a period of 12-18 months during the construction of the beneficiation and power plant at the mine site.

Mayor Camilo Blanco said the expansion of fly in, fly out accommodation at the site was necessary to support the operations of the expanding Wodgina Mine.

“As a Town, we are ideally looking to move away from temporary worker’s accommodation and towards attracting people to our Town on a more permanent basis.

“People need to be living in our Town to invest in local small businesses and maintain our population, particularly in younger age groups.

“However, in this case, it is imperative to ensure that the Wodgina Mine has adequate accommodation facilities to support its expanding operations.
