Applications are now open for a number of community partnership grants with financial support of up to $15,000 per year provided for up to a three year period.

The grants are available to local not for profit organisations who reflect the unique identity and add to the social fabric and wellbeing of the Port Hedland community.

“These grants are a fantastic opportunity for Port Hedland’s community organisations to gain the extra support they need,” said Town of Port Hedland Mayor Camilo Blanco.

“The Town of Port Hedland places great emphasis on supporting community and grassroots programs and initiatives, and the community partnership grant is one of many ways we provide financial support to local groups and associations.

“Totalling up to $45,000 over three years, this is a huge funding boost that can be put towards areas like increasing accessibility or enhancing community events, sports, programs or services.

“Three grants were awarded in 2017, and all three not for profit groups have put the funding towards enhancing their valuable community programs.

“Port Hedland would not be the town it is without the hard work of our wonderful not for profit organisations, and so I strongly encourage all groups to make the most of this opportunity.”

Volunteer Marine Rescue Service Port Hedland Inc, Rose Nowers Early Learning Centre and Youth Involvement Council were the recipients of three grants awarded in 2017.

The next round of grants will be awarded at an Ordinary Council Meeting on 23 May. Further details including selection criteria can be found on the Town of Port Hedland website.
