Future Council meetings will be streamed live, following a decision made by the Town of Port Hedland Council at the Ordinary Council Meeting held last night.
Mayor of Port Hedland Camilo Blanco said the live streaming of Council meetings online would allow interested people to view proceedings without the need to attend Council meetings.
“Council has introduced the streaming of Council meetings as another step in strengthening our connection with the Port Hedland community,” he said.
“Live streaming on Facebook will enhance the accessibility and transparency of the Council decision-making process by removing barriers that may prevent residents from attending Council meetings.
“People will be able to listen to the debate of topics first-hand and gain a greater understanding of issues affecting the Town. Viewers will also gain insight into the role of councillors as they make decisions based on the best interests of the entire community."
Members of the public will be able to access the live stream on the Town of Port Hedland Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/townofporthedland/
