In a bid to tackle illegal dumping of waste in the Hedland region, the Town of Port Hedland has asked the community to work with them towards a resolution.
Illegal dumping is a major problem in the area and has been causing significant environmental damage to both local flora and fauna for some time.
Town of Port Hedland Mayor Camilo Blanco said that he is tired of seeing people dump their waste with no regard for the damage it is causing,
“The landfill is open 7 days per week, and on most public holidays. There is no excuse to be dumping waste elsewhere,” he explained.
“Not only is this illegal and a complete eyesore, but the damage it is causing to our native plant and animal life is detrimental.
“It’s time for the community to work together, with the Town of Port Hedland, to put an end to this kind of behaviour.”
